An explosive device went off on Tuesday inside a mosque at Gamborun Market in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, leaving several people dead and others injured.
The incident happened while worshippers were observing prayers, sparking panic across the busy market area.
Part of the mosque was damaged in the blast, and people nearby rushed to help before emergency teams arrived.
Security personnel quickly sealed off the scene to prevent further harm and to begin an initial investigation.
Authorities have not yet released the official number of casualties at the time of this report.
