‘We didn’t meet in hotel’: Businesswoman apologises to Umahi over alleged sexual harassment

A businesswoman, Tracy Nicholas Ohiri, has withdrawn her earlier allegations of sexual harassment and unpaid contract against the Minister of Works, David Umahi.

In a video released on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Ohiri said her decision followed consultations with her family, friends, and legal team, as well as a careful review of events that occurred over the past two weeks.

The businesswoman stated that the former governor of Ebonyi State did not threaten that the same fate allegedly suffered by Neyland engineers would happen to her if she visited the state.

Ohiri also explained that she does not personally know the Neyland engineers and only became aware of the issue through online reports and information from others.

She apologised to the minister for the controversy the allegations may have generated.

“I apologise to Engineer Dave Umahi for any embarrassment this may have caused him and his family,” she said, while also extending apologies to her own family, friends, and others who felt affected by the incident.

The businesswoman further clarified that she never claimed the minister tied a towel before meeting her in a hotel room, adding that the allegations might have been exaggerated or misinterpreted.

Ohiri said her family had decided to move on from the matter and appealed to the public to respect that decision.

Addressing the alleged financial dispute, she acknowledged that there was no formally signed agreement between her and the minister.

According to her, although the job was completed and delivered to the minister’s aides, the materials might have been used for campaign purposes without Umahi’s knowledge.
