Wike commends Rivers Assembly members for supporting Tinubu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday praised members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for “standing for what is right in the state” and for their support of him and President Bola Tinubu.

Wike made the remarks during a visit to the lawmakers at the House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt, describing them as trustworthy, principled, and capable leaders.

He urged the assembly members to continue upholding democratic values, calling them “a beacon of democracy” in the country.

The minister also criticized the withholding of their entitlements by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara prior to the declaration of the State of Emergency.

“It is important to thank the members of the State House of Assembly for what they have done for the people of Rivers State,” Wike said.

“You have shown courage and integrity, standing firm even when challenged.

“True leadership is reflected in standing for what is right, and you have done that.”

Wike added that effective leadership depends on collaboration and support, highlighting that the assembly members have worked together for the state’s development.

He also commended the maintenance of the assembly quarters, noting that proper leadership ensures order and progress.

“Today, you have stood out as a model for democracy in Nigeria,” Wike said.

“It would be unfair not to acknowledge your efforts and those of your families who supported you.

“Leadership is about principles, and you have demonstrated that.”
