Wike, Fubara reconcile as Rivers leaders meet in Port Harcourt

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, met in Port Harcourt on Saturday alongside other key political figures from the state, signaling a major step toward reconciliation after months of tension.

The meeting, held two weeks after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lifted the state of emergency in Rivers, is seen as a strong indication of restored peace and unity within the state’s political landscape.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the FCT Minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka, those in attendance included Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, among others.

“The Political Family is fully united,” the statement read, suggesting an end to the prolonged rift between the FCT Minister and the Governor over control of the state’s political structure.
