Wike unveils Rainbow Coalition candidates in Rivers

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has unveiled candidates of the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance involving six parties in Rivers State, as part of efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The unveiling took place on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Senator Magnus Abe and other political leaders in attendance.

Wike urged the coalition’s members and candidates to work together to secure Tinubu’s re-election, calling on Peoples Democratic Party members in Rivers and other states to support the president.

He also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, questioning their political positions and records in office.

Fubara, who acknowledged Wike’s role in his political journey, said they had reunited in the interest of Rivers State and pledged support for Tinubu’s re-election.

Abe also urged Amaechi to reconsider his political alignment with Atiku, arguing that the South should retain the presidency.

Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Kingsley Chinda said the coalition would work towards inclusive governance and peace in Rivers State.
