The Rivers State House of Assembly complex has come under demolition.
About 10 bulldozers moved to the premises in the early hours of Wednesday, December 13, 2023 to begin the demolition.
The demolition began shortly after lawmakers loyal to Governor Simi Fubara held a session early on Wednesday.

The pro-Fubara lawmakers led by a factional Speaker, Edison Ehie, said the complex was due for demolition following the October 30, 2023 explosion that rocked the Assembly complex.
Ehie stated that the governor would provide alternative temporary place for the lawmakers.
The demolition of the complex is seen as a direct assault of Governor Fubara against his estranged godfather, Nyesom Wike.
