A deadly windstorm has struck Garba-Chede, a community in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, leaving at least six people dead and 30 others injured.
According to residents, the storm, described as the most destructive in recent years, caused widespread devastation.
Abubakar Dodo, a local whose home was among those destroyed, said schools, mosques, churches, and shops were heavily damaged, with food items worth millions of naira lost.

The traditional leader of Garba-Chede, Kaigama Maigandi, has appealed to Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, to provide assistance to affected residents in rebuilding their homes and businesses.
In response to the disaster, a team from the North East Development Commission (NEDC), led by Dr. Balutu Isa Mohammed, visited the area to assess the level of destruction and identify potential areas of intervention.
The delegation expressed condolences to the victims and assured the community of the commission’s commitment to delivering essential relief materials and support.
During the visit, the NEDC team also paid a courtesy visit to Chief Maigandi to inform him of their mission and planned relief efforts.
