Umar Yar’Adua is set to enter the ring against Gabriel Kayod in a three-round boxing contest scheduled for Saturday in Abuja.
Yar’Adua announced the fight on his Instagram page on Wednesday, urging his followers to turn up for the event at Lavish Loft Lounge, Gwarinpa, from 6 p.m.
The contest, promoted as “three rounds of pure boxing,” will be followed by an after-party, according to the event publicity material.
Yar’Adua said admission tickets would cost N2,000, while encouraging interested fans to comment “FIGHT” on his Instagram post to receive the ticket link.
The upcoming bout marks another step in Yar’Adua’s growing involvement in boxing, which he has regularly showcased through his social media platforms.
His decision to pursue the sport has attracted considerable attention online, with followers expressing mixed reactions to his move into the ring.
In a recent Instagram video, Yar’Adua explained that boxing offered him an opportunity to challenge himself without relying on his family background or public profile.
He said the sport appealed to him because once he stepped into the ring, his family name could not influence the outcome and he would have to prove himself on his own.
Saturday’s event is expected to blend the boxing contest with entertainment, with the post-fight party forming part of the evening’s programme.
