100-level student found dead in boyfriend’s house

A 100-level student of Mass Communication at the Taraba State University has been found dead in the Bakasi area of Jalingo, the state capital.

The deceased, identified as Comfort Jimtop Oliver, hailed from Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.

It was gathered that the student’s body was discovered inside a residence reportedly belonging to her boyfriend.

Court grants bail to police officer dismissed over WhatsApp strike comment

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear at the time of filing this report.

Authorities said efforts were underway to determine the cause of death and establish the events leading up to the student’s demise.

Though the university management has yet to speak on the incident, the Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, James Lashen, confirmed the student’s death on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Lashen said the details surrounding her death are yet to be uncovered, but promised to release a statement as soon as he reached out to the Divisional Police Officer of the area.
