No fewer than 16 law graduates of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) made first class honours at the recently concluded Bar Final Examinations of the Nigerian Law School.
This is in addition to 58 others who made second class Upper in the examinations.
The UNILORIN Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Akogun stated: “This is the first time in the history of the university and its Faculty of Law that such a large number of its graduates would make First Class in the Bar Final Examinations.
“The closest to this was in 2023 when 10 law graduates bagged the First Class grade.”
He added that the feat was a direct impact of the administrative style of UNILORIN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), over his investments in the institution’s service delivery.
Akogun quoted Egbewole as saying: “The performance of the Law graduates is a thing of joy, not just for the Faculty of Law but also for the University in general.

“It is also a reflection of the strong academic foundation and culture of excellence nurtured at the university.”
Egbewole commended the 16 first class graduates for writing their names in gold, just as he lauded other graduates of the faculty who also passed the Bar examination with various grades.
The VC described the accomplishment as a proud moment for UNILORIN and reflection of its commitment to academic and professional excellence.
He urged the graduates to continue to serve as good ambassadors of the university in all their future endeavours.
