The Akran of Badagry in Lagos State, Aholu Menu-Toyi 1, has joined his ancestors at the age of 89.
It was gathered that the traditional ruler died on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Further details on the monarch’s death could not be immediately ascertained.
The Akran Palace is expected to release a statement on the development.
Born on September 18, 1936, Oba Akran was a former journalist who ascended the throne of his ancestors on April 23, 1977.

Throughout his long and peaceful reign, he was a symbol of unity and a respected voice for the people of the ancient town.
As the Permanent Vice-Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, his wisdom and leadership were influential across the state.
He was widely regarded as a great lover of his people who brought peace and encouraged community development throughout the Badagry area.
