APC govs endorse Tinubu’s security reforms, pledge stronger state interventions

Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture.

Rising from a two-day meeting in Lagos, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, commended what they described as improved coordination among security agencies and praised the sacrifices of security personnel and community volunteers.

The governors resolved to strengthen community-based security structures, intelligence gathering and support for victims of violence across their states.

On the economy, the Forum acknowledged the hardship caused by ongoing reforms but lauded the President’s efforts to stabilise the system.

They pledged increased state-level interventions in food production, MSME support, youth employment and social protection for vulnerable groups.

The PGF also committed to scaling up investments in infrastructure, including roads, housing, transport, water and digital connectivity, while ensuring inclusion for women, youth and persons with disabilities.

Reaffirming loyalty to the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda, the governors promised to deepen local government reforms, enhance transparency and expand citizen engagement platforms.

They further called for stronger national unity, inter-faith harmony and responsible leadership to curb hate speech and criminality.
