A day earlier, on Sunday, January 28, Bwala had defended Tinubu on the withdrawal of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso from ECOWAS.

He wrote: “The withdrawal of the three West African nations from

President Tinubu’s leadership or lack thereof as it is peddled by naysayers. It has everything to do with the dynamics of proxy trade conflicts between

“Nigeria is not at war with both blocs, so we are good and President Tinubu would find a path for lasting peace in ECOWAS. Let’s focus on our nation and together as a people we would find solutions to our age long problems. Make dem dey there dey and make we dey our dey.”

Bwala, a member of the PDP, had met with Tinubu at the State House on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, and pledged his support for the president.

He, however, disclosed to State House correspondents that he came on the invitation of President Tinubu.

Bwala said: “I honoured the invitation of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is a father to the nation, who God has given the opportunity to lead the country at this difficult time. So I came to celebrate and congratulate him.

“I also gave him my commitment that as citizens of this country, this is the time for us to throw our weight behind and support the administration.”
