Bail withdrawal: Kanu’s lawyer hits back at Malami

Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the withdrawal of bail earlier granted to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission reportedly asked the court to revoke Malami’s bail over alleged violations of his bail terms.

But Malami’s media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, denied that any conditions were breached.

He explained that the development was linked to Malami’s presence at a political event in Kebbi State and described contrary reports as misleading.

Reacting on X, Ejimakor suggested that Malami was now facing the same type of treatment he allegedly enabled while in office.

He said Malami should “carry his cross,” accusing him of fostering impunity and ignoring the rule of law.

Ejimakor further referenced Kanu’s case, alleging that Malami played a role in the IPOB leader’s “extraordinary rendition” and the revocation of Kanu’s previous bail.

According to him, Malami’s current situation shows that “what goes around comes around.”

The development adds another layer to ongoing political and legal debates surrounding past and present government actions in Nigeria.
