Bandits kill one, abduct ex-Kaduna commissioner relatives

Bandits have reportedly abducted four members of the family of a former Kaduna State Commissioner of Poverty Alleviation, Abdulrahman Ibrahim Jere, in the state.

The ex-commissioner’s relatives were said to have been abducted at Jere town in  Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Friday.

It was, however, learnt that Jere was out of town when the incident occurred.

The gunmen were said to have abducted the former commissioner’s wife, a baby girl, his younger sister, and his wife’s sister.

The assailants, it was gathered, also killed a newlywed groom and kidnapped his pregnant wife during the attack.

It was further learnt that over 50 bandits on motorcycles invaded the community located along the dreaded Abuja-Kaduna highway.

A resident of the community, identified as Hassan Jere, disclosed that the groom was killed after the bandits attacked his home and attempted to abduct his wife, an attempt the groom was said to have resisted.

Jere said the man was shot dead while dragging his bride with the bandits.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, had yet to react to the incident as of the time of filing this report.
