Borno govt releases N700m for leave grants, gratuities for LGs

The Borno Government has released N700 million for the payment of leave grants and outstanding gratuities for local government staff in the state.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Malam Sugun Mai-Mele, said that Governor Babagana Zulum gave the approval for the 27 local government areas in the state.

Mai-Mele, however, warned the heads of the local governments against diversion of the funds, saying that they should make sure they properly supervised the payment of the fund to beneficiaries.

He also warned the civil servants against paying any kickback to anybody.
