British man wanted for killing wife, daughters arrested in South Africa

A British citizen of Zimbabwean descent, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, has been charged with the murder of his wife and two daughters after his arrest in Johannesburg, South Africa, in connection with a triple homicide in Bedfordshire, England.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced on Friday that it had approved three counts of murder against Tshuma shortly after he was taken into custody by South African authorities.

The victims – 42-year-old Nothabo Zandile Tshuma and her daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, five – were found dead inside their home in Great Denham, near Bedford, after Bedfordshire Police forced entry following reports that the family had not been seen for several days.

Chief Crown Prosecutor Emma Davies said prosecutors authorised the charges after reviewing evidence submitted by Bedfordshire Police.

Davies said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised three charges of murder against Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma following the deaths of his wife and two daughters.

“This decision was made after a careful assessment of the evidence presented by Bedfordshire Police. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Zandile, Natalie and Nala, as well as everyone affected by this tragic incident.”

South African police confirmed that Tshuma was arrested in the Kensington area of Johannesburg during a coordinated operation involving the South African Police Service’s Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence, and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit.

According to SAPS, the arrest followed intelligence-led investigations carried out in collaboration with British authorities.

Police, in a statement issued on Friday, said Tshuma was being sought by UK authorities over the deaths of his wife and two daughters and was successfully located and apprehended through a joint law enforcement operation.
