A former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign in the 2023 election, Daniel Bwala, has described the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, as an opportunist.

Bwala said Obi is not playing the role of opposition but opportunism, adding that the LP standard bearer uses religion, ethnicity, and sports.

He said this via a post on his X account on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Sharing a picture of Obi at the stadium in the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, Bwala wrote: “Obi does not play opposition, but opportunism. He takes advantage of vulnerabilities of the nation and its people like a predator.

“He uses religion, ethnicity, natural disasters and even sports. Until NFF supporters’ club member told him to ‘F’ off.”

In another tweet, he said: “Peter Obi wants to govern Nigeria using catchphrases and buzzwords; consumption to production; China, Malaysia, Egypt etc. What the ‘F’ does he know about governance? Pretending he cares for poor masses, go and ask how much he pays his staff in all his companies; and come back and explain to me the true meaning of modern day slavery.”

Obi was present at the stadium to watch the match between Nigeria and Angola in the AFCON quarter-finals.

The former two-term governor of Anambra State was seen donning the traditional green and white jersey of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, cheering and dancing with fans in the stadium.
