CAC partners Google to deploy AI for 10,000 daily business filings

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has signed a Letter of Collaboration with Google to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) tools aimed at managing up to 10,000 daily business registration requests, in a move to improve efficiency and service delivery.

The Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, announced the partnership at the opening of CAC’s 35th anniversary celebration, describing it as a strategic step toward strengthening Nigeria’s business environment through technology.

Magaji said the adoption of AI had become necessary due to the sharp rise in registration volumes and customer engagement.

“Let me state clearly: the deployment of AI at CAC is not optional; it is necessary,” he said.

According to him, the Commission now processes nearly 10,000 business registration requests each day, a significant increase from just hundreds in previous years. He attributed the surge to tax reforms, the growth of digital and social media businesses, and government efforts to formalise informal enterprises.

He added that CAC’s complaint management system — including emails and call centres — handles about 5,000 inquiries daily, a workload he said could no longer be efficiently managed through manual processes alone.

“Only AI can effectively complement human capacity with the required speed, accuracy, and precision,” Magaji noted.

Under the agreement, Google will provide technical expertise to enhance CAC’s systems, improve portal performance, and support the Commission’s transition to an AI-driven service structure.

Magaji acknowledged that the shift to an AI-powered portal in 2025 came with temporary disruptions to productivity and services but described the reforms as necessary to meet global standards.

As part of the digital upgrade, the Commission also unveiled a revamped website featuring two new tools: an AI Lawyer to provide instant answers on CAC laws and procedures, and an AI Name Generator to help users create and reserve business names online.

He said the partnership reflects the Commission’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and global best practices as it marks 35 years of operations.
