Canada-based woman alleges husband cheated after taking fidelity oath

A Canada-based Nigerian woman, Ezinne Nwanorue, has accused her husband, Franklin Nwanorue, of being unfaithful despite publicly taking a fidelity oath in which he vowed not to engage in extramarital affairs.

Mrs Nwanorue made the allegation in a Facebook post on Thursday, claiming her husband had sexual relations with another woman in Nigeria after making the public declaration.

The couple had drawn widespread attention on social media earlier this week after sharing separate videos of themselves taking oaths to remain faithful to each other, invoking death as the consequence of infidelity.

In his video, Franklin Nwanorue vowed to remain committed to his marriage after joining his wife in Canada, saying he would die if he cheated on her.

He also claimed the public declaration was inspired by what his wife said was a divine instruction and that he agreed to it for the sake of their family.

Mrs Nwanorue also shared a video in which she pledged to remain sexually faithful to her husband and invoked the same consequence if she breached the vow.

However, in a subsequent Facebook post on Thursday, she shared what she described as a comment from a woman she identified as her husband’s “side chick,” alleging that he had continued the relationship even after taking the oath.

She further claimed she had endured hardship in the marriage despite her husband sponsoring her relocation to Canada. According to her, she had intended to support him in obtaining a Canadian visa but now believes he would face divine judgment if the allegations of infidelity are true.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and Mr Nwanorue had not publicly responded to his wife’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
