Police in Ogun State have arrested a 50-year-old Chinese national, Li-jian Yuan, over allegations of indecent assault and rape involving a 23-year-old woman, Wemimo Adebowale, in Abeokuta.
Sources said the suspect, an employee of Zhiylian Global Quarry located in Kobape, was apprehended by detectives after the victim lodged a formal complaint on January 30, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the alleged incident occurred two days earlier, on January 28.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue and is expected to be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
Authorities have assured the public that the case will be thoroughly handled to ensure justice is served.
