The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have recovered the decomposing body of a member of the State House of Assembly (Onitsha North constituency), Justice Azuka.
The command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Ikenga said the lawmaker’s decomposing body was found on the Second Niger Bridge.
The lawmaker was kidnapped by gunmen while returning home at Ugwunapampa road, Inland Town in the Onitsha area of Anambra State on December 24, 2024.

Ikenga disclosed that the joint security team, comprising police and the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), on a mission to rescue the lawmaker, found his lifeless body in the early hours of Thursday at the Second Niger Bridge.
“As soon as I get more details, I will keep you updated, as the joint security team has taken over the scene, and operation is ongoing for possible arrests of the perpetrators,” he said.
