Eberechi Eze joins Arsenal for £67.5m from Crystal Palace

Arsenal have announced the signing of Eberechi Eze in a £67.5 million deal from Crystal Palace.

Arsenal announced Eze’s signing in a statement on Saturday.

This comes after his move to Tottenham Hotspur was hijacked by their north London rivals.

The Gunners, who revealed the signing ahead of Saturday’s game against Leeds, will pay a guaranteed fee of £60 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons for the forward, taking their summer transfer spend to £267 million.

Arsenal stated: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Eberechi Eze on a long-term contract.

EPL: Again, Tottenham stun Man City at Etihad

“The 27-year-old England international returns to north London, where his football journey began in our academy before he rose to prominence as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking talents.”

Also speaking, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game.

“What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.

“His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club. We all look forward to start working with Eberechi soon.”

Eze has signed a four-year deal with Arsenal, with the option of a further year, and will wear the No 10 shirt – previously worn by the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Mesut Ozil, and Robin van Persie – as well as academy players Jack Wilshere and Emile Smith Rowe.
