Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has embarked on a trial of jollof rice inside an enormous custom-made pot.
The trial is part of Baci’s preparation to set a new world record for the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.
The attempt is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos.
A video on Saturday, August 23, showed Baci alongside her assistants and curious onlookers ahead of the official attempt.

The milestone event will take place during the Gino World Jollof Festival, which will spotlight West African cuisine, music, and culture.
Attendance at the festival will be free, and organizers have lined up live performances to add to the celebration.
Baci, who rose to global fame in 2023 after clinching the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, stressed that the project goes beyond simply chasing another title.
Baci, in a post on Instagram, wrote: “Six metres wide. Six metres tall. On September 12, we make history together. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?”
