Ekiti 2026: Afuye votes, predicts wide-margin victory for Oyebanji

Ekiti State Deputy Governor and Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monisade Afuye, on Saturday cast her vote at Polling Unit 003, Atiba Aafin Ward 1, in Ikere Ekiti at about 8:50 a.m.

Afuye commended residents for turning out in large numbers to participate in the governorship election, describing the turnout as a demonstration of patriotism and civic responsibility.

She said reports from across the state indicated impressive voter participation, which she attributed to the extensive campaigns carried out by the APC.

“You can see for yourselves how people trooped out to participate in this election. Not only are they turning out, they are also eager and anxious to vote. I am indeed impressed with the conduct of our voters,” she said.

The deputy governor also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their professionalism and impartiality, noting that their preparedness had ensured a peaceful electoral process.

“I have to commend INEC as well and our security agencies. They really prepared for this election. You can see that nobody is being intimidated and I believe if we continue like this, this election may turn out to be the best in Ekiti’s history,” she added.

Expressing confidence in the APC’s chances, Afuye said Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s performance in office had earned him widespread support among the electorate.

“Governor Oyebanji is not only winning this election, it is going to be with a wide margin,” she said.
