Emadeb E&P reaffirms commitment to host communities development trust

Emadeb Exploration and Production Limited (Emadeb E&P) has reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its obligations to the Emadeb-Eastern Obolo-Ibeno Host Communities Development Trust in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), 2021.

The assurance was given during an engagement with members of the Trust’s Board of Trustees in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as the company advanced stakeholder consultations on its Ibom Field operations under Petroleum Prospecting Licence (PPL) 236.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of Emadeb Energy Group, Debo Olujimi, said the company remained committed to conducting its operations responsibly and in a manner that benefits host communities, Akwa Ibom State and the country at large.

Olujimi pledged that Emadeb E&P would engage with the Host Communities Development Trust with transparency and integrity while working closely with stakeholders to strengthen the Trust’s administrative structures as it completes requirements for its operational licence.

He noted that the company had successfully navigated the technical and capital-intensive exploration phase and was now focused on implementing plans that would deliver value to host communities.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Emadeb E&P, Segun Ogunsanya, reiterated the company’s commitment to sustainable development and collaboration with community stakeholders.

The seven-member Board of Trustees, chaired by Dominic Ekpe, was inaugurated in April 2026 under the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act. The meeting marked the company’s first formal engagement with the board since its establishment.

Ekpe commended the company’s leadership for initiating the engagement and appealed for support to enable the Trust commence operations effectively, including the provision of administrative infrastructure and funding.

As part of its stakeholder outreach, the Emadeb delegation also paid courtesy visits to the Paramount Ruler of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Harry John Etetor, and the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government Area, Effiong Bassey Archianga.

During the visits, the company assured the traditional rulers of its commitment to meeting its corporate social responsibility obligations and complying with all host community provisions under the Petroleum Industry Act.

The monarchs welcomed the delegation and expressed support for the company’s operations, offering prayers for the success and safety of its activities in their communities.

Emadeb E&P, the upstream subsidiary of the Emadeb Energy Group, holds interests in PPL 236, a shallow-water oil and gas asset located about 30 kilometres offshore, and says it remains committed to responsible operations, environmental sustainability and value creation for host communities.
