Mustapha Sule, son of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has clinched the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Mustapha won the entire votes cast of 829, leaving his main challenger a former minister of works, Saleh Shehu Hadejia, with zero votes in the primary election conducted in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital on Wednesday.
He had contested and lost the senatorial seat for Jigawa South-West in the 2019 general election.
A former Jigawa State Governor, Saminu Ibrahim Turaki, recently joined the PDP and won the primary election to represent Jigawa North-Central Senatorial District at the Senate.

Sule Lamido, a former governor and one time Nigeria’s foreign minister is being accused of dominating Jigawa PDP politics with his stooges and children which led to parting ways with his long-term allies like Aminu Ibrahim Ringim who contested the governorship election in 2019.
Speaking on his victory, Mustapha called on the people of the state to turn out en-mass to cast their votes for him in the forthcoming general election to “reposition the state for the betterment of all”.
He will slug it out with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state whose candidate would be backed by the incumbent Governor Badaru Abubakar.
