The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has released the names of 85 beneficiaries of his domestic postgraduate scholarship programme, who will pursue Master’s degree programmes at Bayero University, Kano.
Barau announced this in a Facebook post on Friday, saying he would present admission letters to the successful applicants on Monday, November 9, 2026.
The beneficiaries, selected through the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), will study various programmes, including Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Computer Science, Civil Engineering and Solar Energy Technology.
The senator said the scholarship programme was part of his commitment to human capital development and the advancement of Kano State and Nigeria.
He noted that hundreds of indigent students had benefited from his domestic and foreign scholarship schemes, stressing that investment in education and advanced knowledge was essential to building a skilled workforce.
“Human capital is the sine qua non for the development of any society, and Nigeria is no exception,” he said.
Barau said the beneficiaries had been carefully selected to pursue specialised Master of Science and Master of Engineering programmes at BUK.
Congratulating the successful applicants, he wished them success in their academic pursuits.
