Gunmen have abducted the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, and one other person in the state.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the chairman and the other person, identified as Adamu Custom, were abducted at about 8:30 p.m. in Ningo village of Akwanga LGA on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Nansel said the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, had mobilised personnel to go after the gunmen and rescue the victims unhurt.

“The police in collaboration with other security agencies are currently on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the release of the council chairman and the other victim,” he added.
Nansel, therefore, urged the people of the state, especially people from villages in the area to provide the police with useful information that would lead to the rescue of those abducted and arrest the perpetrators.
