How unemployment pushed me into content creation — Sagacious Prof

A Nigerian graduate and content creator known as Sagacious Prof, has shared how unemployment after his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) experience led him into a career in content creation and education-focused media.

In a post on his Facebook page, he recounted how he began actively applying for jobs after completing his service year, armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, which he graduated with a Second Class Upper Division.

Despite sending applications to several organisations, he said he was unable to secure employment.

He explained that the repeated rejections eventually forced him to take up a part-time teaching job in a private school, where he earned ₦20,000 monthly.

According to him, the experience exposed the harsh realities many young graduates face in the absence of strong networks or immediate job opportunities.

Rather than giving in to frustration, he said he decided to redirect his energy into content creation, focusing mainly on educational content.

He began producing materials that imitate teaching styles and address issues within the education system, combining creativity with his passion for learning.

Alongside his creative work, he also enrolled for a Master’s degree in Public Administration at a federal university, saying his pursuit of further education was driven by a belief in continuous self-development despite job market challenges.

He noted that he remains open to job opportunities both within and outside Nigeria while continuing to build his skills in teaching, administration, and media production.

According to him, his journey reflects how rejection and unemployment can become a turning point, ultimately leading him to discover his passion and creative voice in content creation.
