IED blast hits vehicle on Gurusu–Gwashi road in Zamfara

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by suspected bandits exploded along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, striking a Toyota Eagle Eye vehicle transporting passengers from Gwashi.

The device detonated at exactly 08:32 hours, triggering panic among commuters and residents in the area.

Troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA, supported by tactical units and bomb disposal specialists, were immediately dispatched to the scene to secure the area and conduct an initial assessment.

Efforts are currently ongoing to confirm the number of casualties and recover components of the explosive device.

Security sources suspect the attack was carried out by a terrorist commander identified as Sadiku, believed to be working in collaboration with the Dogo Gide faction.

Authorities have urged motorists and travellers to exercise heightened caution while using the route.
