Ini Edo: Why I did surrogacy after 6 miscarriages

Popular Nollywood actress Ini Edo has disclosed that she opted for surrogacy after six miscarriages.

Ini Edo disclosed this in a recent interview on the reality show ‘Young, Famous & African’.

The famous revealed that she struggled with carrying pregnancies to term, saying she eventually decided to have her daughter, Light, through surrogacy.

When asked if she had a child, Ini Edo confirmed she has a daughter.

When further questioned about her relationship with the child’s father, she said: “No, I’m not married, and he doesn’t have anything to do with us. It’s just me and my child.

“My journey is personal, and I haven’t really talked about it. I went through surrogacy. There was no man in my life at the time, and I wanted to have a child. There are different ways to achieve that.”

Speaking on her decision to opt for surrogacy after enduring six miscarriages despite undergoing IVF procedures, the actress said: “I never thought I would have fertility issues, but it happened.

“When it seemed like it wasn’t going to work the way I wanted, and I wasn’t getting younger, I asked myself, ‘What are my options?’”

Ini Edo, however, expressed contentment with her decision, saying: “I’m very happy with my choice.”

She also stressed that surrogacy is not a decision people take lightly.

“I don’t think surrogacy is something people just wake up and decide to do,” She stated.
