The former president, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, described Onu as “an intellectual giant”.

Buhari added that Nigeria lost “one of its most outstanding scientific minds and intellectuals” with the death of the former chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), a party that once fielded him as a presidential candidate.
