Abdullahi Ganduje
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano has jettisoned his senatorial ambition to allow the incumbent Senator Barau Jibrin representing the Kano North Senatorial District to retain his seat.
This is part of measures to resolve the lingering crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
Jibrin, Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, was influential member of the G-7 faction that challenged Ganduje’s control of the APC structure in Kano.
Although Ganduje had obtained the form to contest for the position in the forthcoming party primaries, the governor has to sacrifice his ambition for the overall interest of the party as it was hit by mass defection.

The Star reliably gathered that there were series of meetings among the trio of Ganduje, Jibrin and APC stalwarts in Abuja who where not happy with mass dumping of the party.
Jibrin, who hails from the same senatorial zone with Ganduje, insisted that he would remain in the APC despite many hurdles against his gubernatorial aspiration largely inspired by Ganduje.
Although Jibrin is yet to announce his change of aspiration to retain his Senate seat, insiders confirmed that there were series of meetings before resolutions were reached.
Confirming the resolution in the APC, Kano State Secretary of the party, Alhaji Zakari Sarina, said there has been tangible agreement at the high level.
“Yes there is tangible understanding between the duo and soon everybody will know this position,” he said.
