The Kebbi State Government has announced the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.
The approval was granted by Governor Nasir Idris following the recommendation of the Zuru Emirate Emirship Election Committee, which conducted the selection process.
Presenting the official letter of appointment to the new monarch on Thursday in Zuru, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari, explained that Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami emerged as the top candidate after securing the highest votes among three contestants screened by the committee.
The appointment follows the demise of the late Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who died on August 16, 2025, at a hospital in London.
Dutsin-Mari expressed appreciation to Governor Idris for approving the appointment and urged the new Emir to uphold the confidence placed in him by the government and the people of Zuru.
He further advised the monarch to discharge his duties with diligence and the fear of God.
The Emirship of Zuru is one of the prominent traditional institutions in Kebbi State, playing a vital role in preserving culture, fostering peace, and promoting community development.
