The Nigeria Police Force has announced a significant breakthrough in its fight against crime in Kogi State, with the arrest of 109 individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities across the state.
State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, revealed the development during the weekend, shortly after commissioning a newly renovated Nigeria Police Area Command in Lokoja, the state capital.
The arrests follow reports of repeated attacks and incidents of banditry and abductions in various parts of Kogi, prompting intensified security operations.
According to the police, the operation demonstrates a major step forward in ongoing efforts to combat banditry, abductions, terrorism, and other threats to peace in the state and the nation.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, which also showcased the upgraded Area Command office funded by a philanthropist, Kankarofi briefed journalists on the strategies implemented to tackle insecurity.
The Commissioner appealed to residents to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information that could help prevent crimes and dismantle criminal networks operating across Kogi.
Other officials present at the event pledged continued collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force to enhance security and safeguard lives and property throughout the state.
