Lagos teacher remanded for allegedly sodomising 11-year-old pupil

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, on Monday, remanded a 28- year-old teacher, Mohammed Algoni, for allegedly sexually molesting an 11-year-old pupil through anus.

The Chief Magistrate, B. O Osunsanmi, who refused to listen to Algoni’s plea, ordered the defendant to be remanded in Kirikiri correctional centre until September 28 for the Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.

The defendant, who resides at 29, Akinwunmi Street, Ifako Gbagada, Lagos State, is tried for sodomy.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offence was committed in June at Ifako, Lagos.

Akeem said after the victim, an 11-year-old boy, who is in an Arabic boarding school came home for Sallah break, he told his mother that he wasn’t going back to the school again.

Akeem added that the victim told his mother how the defendant, who is one of his teachers, has been sexually penetrating through his anus.

The prosecutor said the offence was reported at the police station, adding that the teacher was arrested.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
