LAUTECH student shot dead during sign-out party in Ogbomosho

Tragedy struck in Ogbomosho as a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Babalola Marvelous Ishola, was shot dead during a sign-out celebration, the Oyo State Police Command has confirmed.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, with the student’s body discovered by the roadside at about 5:38 p.m., following a distress report about a lifeless male found at the scene.

Security operatives were immediately deployed and identified the victim through items found on him.

The Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH later confirmed that Babalola was a student of the institution.

His remains have been deposited at the LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation.

In response to the incident, the police Monitoring Unit launched a swift sting operation, resulting in the arrest of 16 suspects believed to be connected to the shooting.

The police say investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
