Man arrested for faking own kidnap to defraud brother in Abuja

The operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a man, Nnandi Agu, for allegedly staging his kidnapping in an attempt to defraud his brother in River Park Estate, Abuja.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Adeh, who debunked a report on an alleged kidnapping incident at the River Park Estate, stated: “The FCT Police Command is aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park estate in the early hours of today (yesterday) and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate.

“One Nnandi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village only faked his kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said River Park Estate.

“The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.

“While the investigation is still ongoing, further development would be communicated to the public.”
