A 26-year-old student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Blessing Moses, who was earlier declared missing, has been found dead in the Karimo area of Abuja.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the body of the student, who had been declared missing after leaving her place of work in Garki on September 11, 2023, was discovered in a wooded area in Karimo.
Adeh, in a statement, disclosed that Moses’ disappearance was reported to the police on September 14.
She added that the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Haruna Garba, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident, noting that the investigation would help to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the student.

The police spokesperson stated: “Our commitment to this case is unwavering and we are determined to uncover both the immediate and remote causes of this tragic incident.
“We are working closely with the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) to facilitate the retrieval of the decomposed remains.
“We acknowledge the sensitive nature of this task and will continue to provide updates to the public as our investigation progresses.”
Adeh further expressed the condolences of the FCT Police Command to Moses’ family.
