The Air component of Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has foiled a terrorist attack on troops in Rann, Borno State, neutralising several fleeing insurgents.
The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, made this known in a statement on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Ejodame disclosed that the operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday.
Ejodame said the counter-offensive was executed through coordinated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Air Interdiction (AI) missions, following credible intelligence of an imminent attack.

The NAF spokesman noted that the air component established contact with ground forces and tracked clusters of insurgents attempting to escape after the foiled assault.
He added: “Precision munitions were employed to engage the fleeing terrorists, resulting in the neutralisation of several of them and the restoration of calm in the area.
“This swift and decisive action underscores the NAF’s unwavering commitment to providing close air support to troops, safeguarding communities, and neutralising insurgent threats with speed.”
