NNPCL unveils health insurance scheme for fuel station attendants

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has introduced a new health insurance package aimed at improving the welfare of fuel service attendants across its retail stations nationwide.

The Attendants’ Health Insurance Scheme, launched by NNPC Retail Ltd in partnership with NNPC HMO, will enrol more than 7,000 station attendants onto the company’s health management platform, ensuring expanded access to quality healthcare services.

Speaking at the launch held at the NNPC Mega Station in Abuja, the Executive Director, Retail Operations and Mobility, Baba-Shettima Kukawa — who represented the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Ltd — described the scheme as a major milestone in the company’s drive to enhance employee welfare and improve customer service.

He noted that station attendants serve as the organisation’s frontline representatives, and their well-being directly influences service quality, especially in an increasingly competitive market where customer experience is critical.

“We have developed a comprehensive package known as the ‘Attendant Framework’, which focuses on enhancing their overall welfare.

“As part of this initiative, we are pleased to announce the rollout of HMO coverage effective this month,” Kukawa said.

“Our goal is to elevate service delivery, ensuring that every customer interaction reflects care, professionalism, and excellence, ultimately driving customer loyalty and sustained patronage.”

He added that the initiative goes beyond welfare support, saying it is strategically designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve productivity, and promote sustainable business growth — reinforcing NNPC Retail’s commitment to its workforce and customers.

Also speaking, Deputy Director of Information Technology, Ademola Adebusuyi — representing the Managing Director of NNPC HMO — said the organisation is partnering with accredited healthcare providers nationwide to ensure beneficiaries receive high-quality medical care.
