AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, the son of the Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has been appointed as the Chairman of Agege Local Government of the state.
AbdulGaniyu’s appointment comes after the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Disco, resigned from his position on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, citing health challenges.
In a letter submitted to the Agege Local Government Legislative Arm, Azeez stated that his health issues had “significantly impacted his ability to discharge his duties.”
The Legislative Council, after what it described as “thorough deliberation,” unanimously passed a resolution accepting his resignation, effective immediately.

The house acknowledged Azeez’s dedication to public service and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Following the acceptance of the resignation, the council swiftly moved to appoint a successor, unanimously approving AbdulGaniyu as the new substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government.
The house said the move would ensure “seamless governance and leadership continuity.”
