Ondo election: APC’s Aiyedatiwa leads in 15 LGs

Ondo State Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is currently leading in 15 Local Government Areas as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of Saturday’s governorship election.

The State Returning Officer for the governorship election, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, opened the state collation exercise at about 12:10 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

According to the results declared by Akinwumi, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja in Kogi State, Aiyedatiwa won in all the 15 Local Government Areas.

The APC candidate currently takes an insurmountable lead with 268,144 votes; Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is trailing with 79,125 votes; while Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has 2,365 votes.

Ondo PDP guber candidate: INEC can’t conduct election properly in one state

The returning officer has adjourned the collation of results to 12 p.m.

Election results from Ilaje, Ese-Odo, and Odigbo Local Government Areas of Ondo State are expected to be announced when the INEC officials reconvened.
