Osun guber: Accord Party clears Adeleke for primaries

The screening committee of the Accord Party has screened and cleared the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, for the party’s governorship primary election, which is being held today (Wednesday) in Osogbo, the state capital.

The Accord Party National Organising Secretary, Ibe ThankGod, who is also the chairman of the committee, made this known in a statement on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

ThankGod said Adeleke has fulfilled all the requisite requirements for nomination and participation at the primary election.

He said the committee subsequently cleared Adeleke as the sole aspirant for the party’s governorship ticket and concluded all required documentation with the relevant bodies.

ThankGod described Adeleke as a worthy gubernatorial aspirant of the party, adding that the certificate of clearance was presented to the governor by the committee chairman.

Adeleke joins Accord Party

He quoted Adeleke as expressing appreciation to the screening committee and the party leadership.

The governor stated that he was prepared to lead the party to victory in 2026, saying: “I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general election.

‘We are winning by God’s grace.”

Adeleke announced his defection to the Accord Party on Tuesday night, saying he joined the party in November to seek re‑election.

The governor resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on December 2.
