The suspects — Aliyu Abbas (35), Sani Iliyasu (47), Ashiru Sule (41), Abubakar Yahaya (45), and Adamu Kalilu (45) — were arrested on Thursday by operatives of the command’s Special Intervention Squad.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspects were caught in possession of a fake police warrant card, handcuffs, mutilated naira notes, CFA 2,500, and a blue Peugeot 406 vehicle.

Kiyawa revealed that during interrogation, the men confessed to extorting residents in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna States.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring public safety.
