The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested the suspected killer of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, the daughter of a lawyer kidnapped alongside her sisters in the Bwari area of Abuja.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Adejobi identified the 28-year-old suspect as Bello Mohammed, noting that the latter was arrested after police officers raided one hotel in the Tafa Area of Kaduna.
He noted that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division, SP Idris Ibrahim, while acting on intelligence, raided the hotel and arrested Bello with N2.25 million suspected to be proceeds of ransoms collected from kidnapped victims within the area.
The police spokesman said: “The suspect, during interrogation, confessed to be part of the gang that kidnapped the family members of one Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT, on 2nd January 2024, and killed some kidnapped victims, including Nabeeha, f, daughter of the legal practitioner, on 13th January 2024, in a kidnappers camp, in Kaduna State.

“The suspect, in a dramatic situation, offered N1 million to induce the DPO, who rejected the offer and carried out his duty diligently.”
Adejobi added that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered that the suspect, who also confessed to the involvement of the five neutralised bandits in Kaduna by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations into the matter and arrest of all other culprits responsible for the dastardly act.
“The suspect is currently helping the police in their investigations,” he stated.
The police spokesperson quoted the IGP as commending the DPO of Tafa Division for the commitment and professionalism displayed in the case.
He further assured that the police would “leave no stone unturned in decimating criminally minded individuals and bequeathing to Nigerians a more secure society for all and sundry in our dear country, Nigeria.”
It would be recalled that about 19 persons were abducted by bandits from the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji area in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on January 2.
The kidnappers demanded N700 million ransom for nine of the victims.
The kidnappers later killed four of the hostages, including Nabeeha, a 400-level student of Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and 13-year-old Folashade Ariyo.
