Police arrest officer over missing firearms

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a police officer who had been at large over the disappearance of firearms and ammunition from the Riyom Division.

The officer, Insp. Iliya Dauda, an armourer attached to the division, was taken into custody following investigations into the missing weapons.

Authorities said the arrest is expected to aid efforts to recover the lost firearms and ammunition and determine how the weapons went missing.

Police sources indicated that further updates on the recovery operation and ongoing investigation would be communicated as developments unfold.
