Police rescue Togolese farmer, foil kidnap attempt in Oyo

Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have rescued a Togolese farmer, Mr. Abente Daina, who was abducted by gunmen at Banni farm settlement in the Ago-Are area of the state.

The incident occurred at about 1:23 a.m. on Tuesday, when five armed men invaded the farm and whisked the victim away to an undisclosed location.

Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Are mobilised a joint team comprising police operatives, Amotekun Corps, vigilantes, and local hunters to pursue the kidnappers.

During a coordinated bush combing operation, the team engaged the suspects in a gun battle, killing two of them, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family.

Security sources confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
