Saraki receives APC defectors as Lagos4Lagos joins PDP

Some members of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State under the aegis of Lagos4Lagos Movement have officially defected en masse to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday.

Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who presided over the meeting of intent for the defectors in Lagos, commended the courage and foresight of group led by Dr Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), who is an ally of the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.

Members of the group said they unanimously endorsed the decision to quit the APC in Lagos, just as they assented to the official declaration for the opposition party taking place on Saturday, 18 December, 2021.

The “Lagos4Lagos Movement”, an aggrieved group within the Lagos APC, is one of the offshoots of the several aggrieved groups within the party that conducted parallel congresses during the ruling party’s ward, local government and state congresses.

Last month, a delegation of the PDP led by Raymond Dokpesi, a PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) member and Chairman Emeritus of Daar Communications Plc, extended an invitation to the leader of Lagos4Lagos Movement, Olajide Adediran, (popularly known as Jandor), to join the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.

Kazeem Bakare, the spokesperson for the aggrieved APC group, in a statement said the visit was in continuation of the PDP’s consultation with ‘prominent players’ across Nigeria following the success of its recently held national convention.

The spokesperson said that Dokpesi extended an invitation to the leader of Lagos4Lagos Movement, Olajide Adediran, (popularly known as Jandor), to join the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.

Bakare quoted Dokpesi as acknowledging the years of hard work of Lagos4lagos Movement in Lagos State.

According to him,  Dokpesi noted that no political party will ignore the “Jandor” as a brand that was garnered over the years.

He also quoted Dokpesi as saying that the time has come for the desired change in Lagos State.
